Lord Of The Flies #10

Title: Lord Of The Flies
Chapter: #10
Chapter Title: The shell and the Glasses
Character Perspective: Jack
Dirty Conscience

I am the new chief! I finally have all of the power, and how great it feels! The feast went just as I had planned. Except for the end. That was not good at all, in fact that was the most horrible thing that had happened on this island by far! We had killed a boy, and not just any boy. We killed Simon. Now everyone was mourning over it. I kept illuminating to myself in my head that it was an accident and we didn’t know it was Simon, but nothing helped. All that matters is that the boys don’t know how upset I am. They would think I went barmy. I guess I can live with a dirty conscience.
I was tired of sitting around, so I decided I wanted to go on a hunt for more fire wood. I asked who wanted to come, and Maurice and Roger offered. Then we purged ourselves in to the forest. As we gathered the fire wood I realized that I had nothing to start it with, and piggy was not with us. So, we devised a plan that we would go back to camp and try to get piggy to come outside so we could tackle him and take his glasses. If that didn’t work then we would go in there and tackle him while he was laying down. That would probably start a fight, but who cares.
We ran back to camp and once we were outside of the shelters I tried to lure piggy to come outside, but it clearly wasn’t working. There was only on other choice. Go in. Once we were inside of the shelter I tried to make my way over to piggy but tripped over someone’s legs, and that is how the fight started. Everyone was fighting, but eventually Maurice, roger, and me tackled piggy and stole his glasses. Then we went over to the fire and tried to start it once again. From a distance it might have looked like we were doing some theological study since we were in a circle with our heads raised to the sky.
