Home of the Beastie?
I was sleeping peacefully when all of the sudden I was awoken by someone telling me that there was an assembly. Why now? This early? Something must have happened. When I got there I saw Ralph holding the conch so I went and sat near him. He started talking and I noticed that samneric were sitting by him. As Ralph was talking he mentioned the beastie and then gave the conch to samneric. They said how they were watching the fire and then they saw the beastie. They started running, flailing, and yelling mutinously but the beastie was chasing them. Eric said that it got too close to him and scratched him in the face.
After the assembly was over we decided that piggy would stay with the littluns and the rest of us would go on a hike to the only place on the island that I haven’t been. That is were we think the beastie live. We also think that he can fly, and that is how we never find any tracks or things like that. I was leading the group and I noticed that Ralph was walking in the way back. He was the last person, and Simon was right beside him. We finally reached the ledge so I went back and told Ralph. He said that since he was chief he should go alone and everyone else should stay, but he said it diffidently. Great, first we thought it was a leviathan and now it is a flying monster.
A Ralph walked out on to the ledge I told myself that I wasn’t going to let him do this himself. So, I left the boys and quietly followed him. Eventually I caught up with him and he looked at me with a sort of relief. When we got to the end we looked down, and on the rocks there was a guano. In a way it was a beautiful sight. Ralph had a stressed look on his face though. I wonder why?
